Prabowo Subianto's camp asks Jokowi's government about import policy, who imports Jokowi?

Kanal Utama. Spokesman for Prabowo-Sandi, Andre Rosiade said that he highlighted the government's import policy not because of anti-import. But the current government import policy is done inappropriately.

"The name of import should be done if the country cannot produce, or domestic production capacity that cannot meet domestic needs, is the philosophy," Andre said when contacted on Sunday (11/18/2018)

Andre's statement responded, comments by Deputy Chairman of the Jokowi-Ma'ruf National Campaign Team (TKN), Abdul Kadir Karding, who said the Prabwo camp always played an Import issue because it was considered a section in the 2019 Presidential Election.

Andre gave an example of the government's import policy which was considered inappropriate. For example rice imports are carried out during the harvest period, so that Bulog's warehouse cannot accommodate imported rice.

Besides that, it also imports corn but at the same time Indonesia exports corn as much as 360 thousand tons to Malaysia and the Philippines.

Finally, the government imports cement and clinker when domestic supply is abundant, resulting in many cement companies reducing their production capacity by 20 percent.

"The question is who is the import policy? People or who? Or indeed there are indications for rent-seekers," he concluded.

Previously, Deputy Chairperson of the National Campaign Team (TKN) Joko Widodo and Kiai Ma'ruf Amin, Abdul Kadir Karding responded to Prabowo's statement that the government often imports and debts.

"Yes, once again Pak Prabowo is always talking about imports and debt. Because this is considered a sexy issue, what he covers is that the country cannot not import," Karding said when confirmed.

Karding explained that some commodities cannot be produced in Indonesia. Karding pointed out that soybeans cannot be produced massively in Indonesia. Because, taking into account the soil and weather conditions. Then, another example is garlic.

According to Karding, every country in the world must indeed work hand in hand for progress. Each country imports, but also exports to meet each other's needs.

"That means, in fact in the current paradigm, we must not just be a stand-alone country. The term itself wants to be big, wants to live alone like North Korea, it can't be like that," Karding said.
